Chairman PLDDB, Raja Ashfaq Sarwar inaugurates the monsoon tree plantation campaign at LES Farm Khizerabad
Punjab Livestock and Dairy Development Board with the cooperation of Punjab Forest Department has started to plant the 100,000 trees of different crop and animal friendly varieties in the monsoon season at Livestock Experiment Station (LES) Khizerabad. On this occasion Chairman PLDDB/ Provincial Minister for Labor, Raja Ashfaq Sarwar said that pollution is an international dilemma and only trees can reduce the increasing carbon oxide level in the environment so we should increase the jungles to save our upcoming generations. He said that trees are main source of clean and healthy environment and also a big source of revenue as nowadays wood is more costly than iron due to lack of Jungles. He further stated that provincial Government is striving to increase the jungles in the province. While talking on the occasion, MPA Saira Iftikhar, Director PLDDB said that they have planned different varieties of saplings including Shisham (Delbergia sissoo) Kikar (Vachellia nitlotica) Moringa and Shahtoot (Mulberry) and other recommended verities by Forest Department will be planted. She further said that they are planting dual purpose verities as trees may also be utilized as fodder of sheep herd and some verities are crop friendly. Senior LES Farm Management team and representative from Forest Department were also present in the inaugural ceremony.
