Punjab Livestock & Dairy Development Board has conducted a Farmer’s Day at Chak no. 62 on 23rd August, 2017. Objectives of the session were to create awareness in the farmers regarding importance of silage for animals, animals feeding, good agricultural and livestock practices, and prevention from diseases. A sum of around 200 farmers attended the training session. Professional speakers including Neyyar Sial, Nadeem Akhter, Major Amjad, Dr Muhmmad Zahid, Dr Hussnain and Zafar Abbass, addressed the farmers in the native language for their better understanding. The speakers provided guidelines regarding silage preparation and the proportion quantity of silage should be given to new animals who didn’t feed on silage before and to importance of silage for animals. Speakers also shared valuable information related to epidemic diseases i.e. Foot & Mouth and Galghutto, they informed farmers about the symptoms and prevention of diseases. The participants of this event appreciated the efforts of the PLDDB and suggested that such events create awareness among the poor farmers about the general farm practices and these evemnts should be conducted on regular basis.
